The BXH3006 is a Blue Ox custom-designed receiver hitch for the Jeep Grand Cherokee (no Trailhawk) and Grand Cherokee L, covering 2021–2025. It is a Class III hitch with a 2 in receiver opening, and the crossmember is hidden.
Blue Ox publishes two sets of limits, and which one applies depends on how the trailer is hitched. Towed weight carrying, the maximum is 7,500 lb gross trailer weight and 1,125 lb tongue weight. Towed with a weight-distributing setup, the maximum rises to 7,500 lb gross trailer weight and 1,125 lb tongue weight. The higher pair only applies with a weight-distributing hitch actually fitted.
The hitch is steel, finished in Blue Ox’s textured black powder coat over an e-coat base, and it is made in the U.S. and may include imported hardware. Blue Ox safety tests to SAE J684 and SAE J3352. A wiring plug mounting bracket is often included, which gives the trailer connector a place to sit during installation.

What is the difference between the weight-carrying and weight-distributing ratings?
Weight carrying is a trailer hitched straight to the ball, with the tongue load resting on the back of the tow vehicle. Weight distributing adds spring bars that spread that load across both axles of the vehicle and the trailer. Because the load is spread, the weight-distributing limit is often the higher of the two, but it only applies when a weight-distributing hitch is actually in use.
Does the hitch rating mean my vehicle can tow that much?
No. The hitch rating and the vehicle rating are separate, and they are often different. Blue Ox tests the hitch to the vehicle’s tow ratings and asks you to check the figure in your owner’s manual and use whichever is less.
