This Dorman OE FIX intake manifold runner control (IMRC) motor is designed to save repair time and expense by addressing a known issue affecting the IMRC factory design on specified Chrysler, Dodge and Ram vehicles. The wire harness on the original equipment IMRC is too short and doesn't provide enough slack to flex with normal engine vibrations. Over time as the wires become brittle, they can lose contact or short out, rendering the variable intake manifold inoperable and causing a loss of engine power. A short circuit can also cause the failure of the IMRC motor itself, resulting in a check engine light and fault codes P1004, P2008, P2016, or P2017.
